The Canungra Times was established by Stuart Comley in May 2005. Since then, the paper has emerged as an integral part of the Canungra community. It aims to promote the area as a tourist destination and provide a voice for the community.
The Canungra Times Editor, Stu Comley said, "So much has happened in our little town since the very 1st issue in May 2005. We’ve also seen a number of changes in the short life of the “Times”, growing from an A5 photocopied “home-produced” launch featuring Canungra's very own Loggers Rugby League Football Club on front cover. Thanks to Trishy for all the compiling & stapling in those early days. Next up we moved onto an A5 digitally printed version, followed by the big jump to A4 size. Next up was the big leap to full gloss colour covers. At 1 stage the paper grew to 54 pages & started to get too big too quickly. It has now become a manageable 44 page publication with offset colour throughout the paper. I would like to thank all of those businesses, community members, readers & contributors who have made “The Times” such a success."
2000 copies of the paper are produced and distributed in the Canungra district, including Tamborine Village, Tamborine Mountain, Beechmont and Beaudesert.
